Little Lion Man

I've been listening to a lot of new music lately and I wish my i-pod could be Pandora. That way, I'd always have the best new music to listen to and I'd never get bored of any of it. Favourite new bands include: Mumford & Sons, Doris Cellar, Marina & The Diamonds, Royksopp, The Decemberists, Matt Costa, Waking Ashland, Noah and the Whale, Wilco, Ra Ra Riot, Lenka. I have many more but I can't remember them all!

The weather has been cooling down lately and I would be lying if I didn't say that I'm excited for the new season of cold weather to arrive. I've already gotten excited about the new & thick warm scarves that we're getting in at work and I've collected a few warm cardigans and sweaters. I can't wait for my nose to be pink with cold, too. Weird, isn't it? I think it's weird how we get so used to one season and fall in love but then when the next one starts showing signs that it's about to come, we get excited and ready to embrace it. Well, at least I do. The leaves are changing as well and I plan to take some photos of them before they all fall off. Although when they do, I plan to also dance in the fallen leaves. <3

I just purchased my very first DSLR: the Nikon d5000 and a Nikon portrait lens. I'm currently awaiting it to arrive in the mail. I'm ubber excited, to say the least. I can't wait to finally have one.

Windy City

Lately, I've been up and down.
I've been sick for a while now
and last week seemed like the longest
week I've had in a long time.
When it rained this week,
I felt like doing nothing.

Tonight, I want to watch
a romance movie.
I think it should be
in French, too.

Jail Bird, Jail Bird

Have you ever listened to a song on the radio, a mixed CD, or your shuffled Ipod and thought, "Wow, this is totally reflective of my life right now"? I have been thinking that quite a lot lately. Some are love songs, some are trying-to-find-out-who-you-are songs, and some are lets-try-to-change-the-world songs. I've been loving more mellow songs lately too. Songs from Cat Power and Angus and Julia Stone, to be specific. I think it's because I'm trying to be as creative as I can be with my photography and writing and slow songs allow me to think more, or maybe just think more clearly. I also think more mellow songs with hidden messages allow me to color my mind, expand my imagination, and allow my creativity to burn throughout my veins. I love it when I'm in these moods...when only indie and non-radio bands and songs can only satisfy my current music preferences and desire to hear something new. Even when I listen to a few of my favourite bands over and over again, I still hear new things; new words that I didn't catch before, new meanings in what they are singing about, and maybe new chords that didn't hit my ear drums previously. Music, like love, fuels my heart. There are so many beautiful things in music and so many beautiful things that writers put to music. I owe a lot of musicians credit for inspiring me to write certain things and to take certain photos. I would like to take the time to list a few...
